Julia Newman is a filmmaker and writer who works in film, television, and theater. She is excited to share character-driven stories about the human condition in new and innovative ways.
Currently, Julia is the Senior Producer at Dhar Mann Studios in Los Angeles, CA where she leads production on impactful stories for Gen Z and Gen Alpha.
Personally, Julia continues work on her original musical comedy, A Million Aisles Away. You can view the opening number video at @AMillionAislesAway across all platforms. The show has participated in various labs and residencies including the Johnny Mercer Foundation's "Writers Grove," a two-week residency program with Goodspeed Musicals.
Julia's other writing projects have been accepted into festivals and labs including the Athena Writer's Lab at the Athena Film Festival.
Julia's professional experience includes her work in Creative Development at MGM+ (Amazon MGM Studios) and production and development at Branded Pictures Entertainment in Los Angeles. She received her BA in media arts production from Emerson College with a minor in economics.
Julia aspires to work as a television showrunner. She furthers her education through improv classes at The Groundlings and writing classes at UCB. Julia grew up in Short Hills, NJ, and lives in Los Angeles. On the weekends, you can find her writing at coffee shops with her dog, Banjo.
